- * Cytochrome c oxidase assembly factor COX10/ctaB/cyoE signature *
- ******************************************************************
-
- Cytochrome c oxidase is an oligomeric enzymatic complex which seems to require
- a number of subunits that either act as chaperonins to help the subunits of
- the enzyme to fold correctly, or that may assist in the assembly of the metal
- centers [1]. One of these subunits is known as COX10 in yeast and as ctaB [2]
- in aerobic prokaryotes. It is evolutionary related to the cyoE protein from
- the Escherichia coli cytochrome O terminal oxidase complex.
-
- These proteins probably contain [3] seven transmembrane segments; the best
- conserved region is located in a loop between the second and third of these
- segments. We have used this region as a signature pattern.
-
- -Consensus pattern: [ED]-x(2)-M-x-R-T-x(2)-R-x(4)-G
- -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL.
- -Other sequence(s) detected in SWISS-PROT: NONE.
- -Last update: June 1994 / First entry.
